It’s grey and drizzly and supposedly summer. I’ve put a wash on, been out for coffee and arranged to meet a friend for lunch, meaning I need/want to finish this post and write my next chapter in an hour and a half. This is entirely do-able but today’s one of those days when it doesn’t seem possible.
I am going to steno chapter 17 instead of 16. I don’t usually feel there needs to be a particular order but 16 I was going to write about my Interrailing diary and that will require some rummaging to find it as it feels appropriate to find some choice quotes from my 18-year old self.
Chapter 17 will be about a comprehensive atlas of Germany I was given along with my first, and indeed only, brand new car while I lived and worked in Germany at 18/19 years old. The atlas was something tangible that made me feel grown up and independent, along with the fact of my living away from home, in another country, working full time and having my own new car.
(This was written earlier and I did finish my chapter before I went for lunch. Well done me)
