Apparently, it’s going to rain by lunch time. It’s 07:43 and my first ‘stress’ of the day is whether it’s worth trying to hang the washing out for a few hours. We will hopefully have a roofer coming round today to do some small repairs, the kind he can do in rain. Roofers, it transpires, are very busy people and maybe more so in Scotland because of so many rain days and having to pretty much rely on weather forecasts to book in jobs.
Before Becky set off home for Birmingham yesterday afternoon, we had a walk above St Mary’s Loch. I’d never been that far up the hills before but will definitely go up that way again, the views were amazing and we didn’t see any other people. In July, in the summer holidays, in a beautiful place and no other people. Amazing. Becky, it transpires, can do handstands. I felt it wise not to try. I just jumped instead – though no photographic evidence beyond take-off and landing.
I think from Monday evening’s digging session, I have some particularly aggressive midge bites. I had almost got rid of all trace of midge bites, but a few of these are the lingering type. I haven’t been scratching them, but I have been stroking them and staring angrily at the ones on my arm.
Today will largely be desk-based. However, I do need to post a birthday card and a letter so I will have to go out, which is a good thing, though I now realise that this afternoon is when the rain is forecast. Oh well.
Had a bath last night; it’s good to be appreciating what is currently full service when it comes to water supply. All of the water problems have made me appreciate that if we don’t use water when it’s coming in from the spring and not topping up the tank because the tank is already full, that the water is wasted and just goes into the ground. Hmm, instead of baths, maybe I should also think about washing the car.
